BHUBESI FC, from Kokstad, opened the South African Football Association (SAFA) Harry Gwala South African Breweries (SAB) regional league with a loss, losing their game to Master 11 FC at Bhongweni Stadium last Sunday, October 28.Bhubesi FC lost 3-2 against Master 11 FC. Zama Ngubo, the Bhubesi spokesperson said their players participated well in the game despite being defeated, saying: “Players will not be discouraged by losing the game. At the camp this week, we have informed our players to up their performance to win other games.”The team has signed seven new players to contribute in different positions. A number of matches were played at the start of the league with Umzimkhulu United FC kicking off their season well, defeating Amakhehla FC 4-0. The student’s team, Esayidi TVET College FC, defeated Blackpool FC 2-0, Ixopo United FC took a 3-1 victory over Boys 2 Men FC, and Bulwer United played drew 1-1 against Good Fellas FC. Blackpool FC beat T. Tigers FC 2-0, Dream Team FC defeated Kungawo FC 2-1, and Eastern Rangers FC took down Kokstad Liverpool FC 4-1. Clydesdale United Brothers FC drew 3-3 against Nathi Lions FC and there was also a 1-1 draw when Barcelona FC played against Wanderers FC. On Sunday, October 4, teams who play in stream A will face each other as follows: Master 11 FC will face Amakhehla FC at 1 pm at the Bhongweni Stadium; Ixopo United FC takes on Umzimkhulu United FC at the Morning Side Stadium at 3 pm; Good Fellas FC is up against Bhubesi FC at the Umzimkhulu Turf at 3 pm; Esayidi Tvet College FC will clash with Boys 2 Men FC at Bhongweni Stadium at 9 am; and Bush Bucks FC will square off against Bulwer United FC, also in Bhongweni Stadium at 3 pm. Teams who play in stream B will face off as follows:T. Tigers FC will be facing Barcelona FC in Mlimandlela Stadium at 3 pm; Nathi Lions FC take on Wanderers FC at Morning Side Stadium at 1pm; Kungawo FC is up against Blackpool FC at the Riverview Stadium at 3 pm; Kokstad Liverpool FC will clash with Clydesdale United Brothers at Bhongweni Stadium at 11 am; and Eastern Rangers take on Dream Team FC at Riverview Stadium at 1 pm. The league’s deputy chairperson, Mamisa Ngcobo, said the league is expected to be completed in May next year.“There are six teams that have joined the league for the first time. Good Fellas FC from Umzimkhulu was promoted to participate in the league after playing well in the domestic league in Umzimkhulu,” said Benito Silwanyana, the league’s co-ordinator.
