ON October 31, the Kokstad South African Community Party (SACP) awarded local football and netball clubs who won at the SACP tournament on September 24 in Kokstad in honour of struggle veteran O.R. Tambo.

“Many local clubs participated and we thank them for their patience after there was a delay in handing over prizes,” said Vuyiswa Qhakaza, SACP co-ordinator.

The first football prize - a trophy, sports kit and gold medal - went to Bombers Football Club.

The first netball prize went to Lynx Netball Club that also received a trophy, gold medal and a kit.

Nondumiso Mgini, Lynx Netball Club founder thanked SACP for hosting the tournament and said it was the first time the club has won in the tournament.

“The club has won many friendlies in Kokstad and in the December holidays we will be playing in many games,” said Magini.
