POPULAR South Coast author, Sheugnet Buys (81), died on June 11 and was laid to rest last Saturday.

Sheugnet suffered a stroke a few days after a book signing for her recent book, Was Ek Maar ‘n Lady in Shelly Beach in April.

She has written seven books as well as a number of plays, one of which was performed at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.

She was born in Kestell in the Free State and leaves her husband, a daughter, three stepchildren and six grandchildren.
