SCORES of racers took to the Dezzi Raceway track in Oslo Beach on Sunday for the soapbox derby with drivers of all ages competing in an array of racing cars, including some self-designed and built.

The family day was organised by the Thompson Motors Port Shepstone to raise funds for selected Port Shepstone Rotary Club charities.

Competitors came from all over the South Coast to revive their inner Schumacher on the track.

Organisers said they were pleased with the turn-out.

“The event was supported by competitors, families, schools and businesses.

“We are grateful to Des Gutzeit and family for allowing us the use of their raceway to stage this event,” said Thompson Motors Dealer Principal, Clive Thompson.
