ON May 15, St Monica’s rugby boys played against Focused High School and the match was tough as both teams struggled to gain momentum.

St Monica’s managed to score more points and won the game. The boys will be preparing to face Bergview College next week. On May 17, St Monica’s U13 rugby team had visited King Edward High School (KEHS) to play a friendly game, while U16 rugby team players played successfully against Focused High School at a league.

An enthusiastic game was observed during St Monica’s U11 rugby boys faced KEHS and there was a lot of experience gained during the game.

The Annual 7’s Rugby Tournament was hosted by St Monica’s on Saturday and there was fun and excitement. Schools like KEHS, Bergview College, Focused and Ixopo High School participated at the tournament. Congratulations to KEHS for being the overall winner of the tournament.

U7 to U19 St Monica’s pupils took part at the Cross Country Festival hosted by KEHS on Saturday. Pupils who won at the festival include U7 runners Uminathi Klaas who won gold, Khothalang Mahara won silver and Hlalanathi Mivimbi won bronze. Alizwa Lolwethu won silver in the U7 girl’s category.

Imatha Xorile, Reshepile Mohoto, Kaho Sekoai, Sibonelo Makholwa, Yanathi Bekebu, Yanga Mafunda, Abonga Pangwa, Retshepile Mothapa, Karabelo Mphatsoe, Enkosi Majikijela, Esihle Sobantu, Lona Mnukwa, Lona Somdaka, Seithati Mothapa, Tshepang Mojoe, Lethabo Stemere, Bonang Lesaona, Percy Motsuoane, Dintle Qhu, Mothekwa Koikole, Qetelo Lephallo and Nandipha Somdaka also won silver.
