A GROUP of women Umuziwabantu Local Municipality employees in Harding took a stand against women and children abuse by wearing black to work on Monday.

Mayor Dixie Nciki also supported the initiative and condemned recent incidents of women and children abuse. Employee Nonhlahla Mayeza said the purpose of wearing black was to show their anger and call for calm.
“There are many cases of the abduction of women and children and we want a peaceful country. A few months ago a woman was abducted at night and burnt in Harding. Many women are afraid for their life. We don’t sleep well because we don’t know who the next victim is. We want people to stand together and protect women and children,” said Mayeza.

Other female employees and councillors supported the campaign and prayed for peace.
