THE Umuziwabantu in the Harding ANC Sub-regional Chairperson Qiniso Ndadana thanks God after surviving an attack by some of his ANC branch members at his home on Sunday.

The ANC members demanded that he convene a failed Ward 8 general meeting in Khwezi Township and nominate ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa as the next ANC president.

Ndadana was allegedly attacked at home by a group of ANC members dressed in black ANC T-shirts with the words “Siyavuma CR 17” written on in support of Ramaphosa.

The attack came after ANC branch members were nominating between Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Ramaphosa in the upcoming national conference next month.

“I thanked my God after I nearly died. They beat me with knobkerries and sticks until I fell down.

“My wife at home told me there were ANC members at my gate in Kwezi Township, who were demanding to see me. I drove home from town and found them at my gate where they beat and hurled all sorts of insults at me.”

He said after they attacked him they damaged the tyres of the Ugu District Municipality car he was driving.

“Now I can’t tell you where I am because I am in hiding. Police escorted me, my wife and children from my home to a safe place,” said Ndadana.

He said the attack came after 10 ANC branches in Harding were supposed to convene a branch general meeting, but only five convened, one didn’t qualify to convene the meeting. “Only five branches convened their meeting successfully. Three branches nominated Dlamini-Zuma and two nominated deputy president Ramaphosa as ANC president after the December ANC national conference.”
