MAMELODI Sundowns coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, was awarded for supporting local sport by Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality mayor, Zamo Nxumalo at the Mother of All Tournaments in Ixopo last Saturday.

The tournament was started by nine local schools and in 2011 the municipality supported it as a way of uniting schools and identifying football talent.
A total of 52 schools participated, and codes included volleyball, football and netball.
Impunga High School from Ixopo beat Ulwazi High 3-1 in the finals and won a trophy and medals.

Nxumalo also awarded Ixopo-born football player, Thabo Nodada who plays for Cape Town City FC.

“We want Nodada to support our local football players by giving them coaching skills.
“Next month we will host coaching workshops for school football players,” said Nxumalo.

Mgnqithi encouraged schools to support sport by giving pupils the chance to participate in all sport codes.
