SAPS arrested three men, aged between 27 and 30, for dagga possession in Ixopo on 13 October.
Police were on a routine operation to root out drug smuggling, business robbery and hijacking.

They received information about a vehicle that was to transport drugs in Ixopo and did a follow-up.
An Isuzu bakkie was confiscated with 11 bags of dagga with a street value of R132 000,” said SAPS provincial spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane.

KZN Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bhekinkosi Langa praised SAPS members for their dedication in getting rid of drugs.

“We want society to live in a province that is free of drugs. We ask the public to join forces with us to make sure that people, who deal in drugs, are behind bars.”

The suspects were charged with possession of dagga and on 14 October appeared in the Ixopo Magistrate’s Court and were sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
