Umuziwabantu Municipality back to normal

2018-03-16 06:00

UMUZIWABANTU Municipality Mayor Dixie Nciki has confirmed to Fever that the state of affairs at the municipality returned to normal last Friday.

This comes after municipal workers were forcefully removed from their offices by angry members of the ANC on February 28.

A group of people from the ANC disrupted a special council meeting on the day with the aim of defending the mayor and speaker, Mzwandile Nyathi, from a vote of no confidence.

But Nciki said no proposal has been tabled to the office of the speaker. The council was adjourned and police were called to calm the situation.

“We don’t know what the ANC members were planning to do after workers returned to their offices, but services are running smoothly. The municipality is preparing to fill the vacant posts of the municipal manager and chief financial officer,” said Nciki.
