‘I Do Right’ campaign

In order to create and instil awareness and a culture of ethics and honesty within the public service through awareness campaigns, education, seminars and the use of multimedia, the “I Do Right” campaign has been given birth by the KZN Legislature.

Through its principles, this programme also seeks to create public confidence in public officials. As Umzimkhulu Municipality, we are not immune to such principles hence our direct clientele is the public. The municipality is committed to continuously instil that principle.

Farewell of municipal employees

Umzimkhulu Municipality would not be where it is if it was not for its municipal employees, some of whom have been with the municipality from the beginning of the local government concept. They have been the driving force, leading by example for new ones who joined the municipal ranks. As much as their retirement farewell was filled happiness and celebration, it was filled with emotion when their experiences with the municipality was shared.

2017 Manqoba Mngqithi Tournament

It is fulfilling and exciting to have a one of our own, Manqoba Mngqithi (assistant coach of Mamelodi Sundowns), giving back at home through the Manqoba Mngqithi Foundation (MMF). He is creating an enabling environment for the young people of Harry Gwala District to showcase their talent in sport and Safa Harry Gwala Region has partnered with him in this tournament.

This weekend, 32 soccer teams will compete in Umzimkhulu for prestigious prizes. The finals are to be played next weekend at the same venue. As a municipality, we saw that it imperative to partner with MMF as well.

Till we meet again.
