TALKS between Ward 6 residents and Umzimkhulu Local Municipality officials resulted in the people getting a glimmer of hope of getting electricity after they complained at a community imbizo in Umzimkhulu recently.

The municipality promised to electrify 284 houses in Dumisa village and 639 houses in Gidlintaba village. Zizamele Contractor is appointed to electrify houses in Dumisa village and Pamela Electrical will connect electricity to Gidlintaba houses.

Ward 6 councillor Bongiwe Sibeni thanked the community for being patient after not having electricity for many years. She also thanked the people for not destroying government property in their demand for electricity.

Umzimkhulu Local Municipality mayor, Mphuthumi Mpabanga asked people not to abuse electricity by using it unnecessarily.
