Umzimkhulu Municipality viewpoint

WARM greetings to Umzimkhulu citizens

The Auditor-General team is preparing to leave the site after an intensive audit. We appreciate the co-operation from the team and stakeholders who were involved without predicting the audit opinion.
The AG always asks about queries raised by the community and eventually gives timelines for responses, and respondents have ensured their adherence to AG stipulations. The Umzimkhulu Municipality mayor, Cllr MB Mpabanga recently held a media briefing with the media. The briefing was to confirm the commitment of council in service delivery. As part of the portfolio of evidence they visited a number of projects.
Umzimkhulu Municipality is always on the first page of local newspapers for a good cause, and it is important to visit our projects as a way of attesting to the realities of service delivery. This exercise happens every quarter, led by infrastructure departments as well as the executive committee. The mayor also presented the municipal with a new fleet that aims to accelerate service delivery. Umzimkhulu Municipality decided to increase its capacity by procuring the fleet in order to avoid the middle man. The advantage will be to use the fleet to its full capacity rather than use them on a contract basis and lose capital when the contract expires.

We thank the district mayor Cllr M. Ndobe for his visit to the Jericho cluster and the projects which have been given to villages. Ultimately water projects will address and alleviate the burden of women who often go far to fetch water from springs. As the drought increases these springs have become dry and will eventually compel the district to deliver water via the tankers, although this process is unsustainable.
Thank you.
