Local Municipality

has set aside millions to repair roads in villages outside Ixopo.
Mayor Zamo Nxumalo said repairs will be finished early next year.

On September 8, Nxumalo and municipal officials attended a sod-turning to mark the start of the project and said the municipality wants people to drive on “smooth roads” when going to town.
“Rural people will benefit from jobs and [attain] skills during repairs,” said Nxumalo.

More than R2 million has been budgeted for the construction of the Harold Nxasane access road, R1 million for Butaneni access road, R1.4 million for Jolivet Mkhwanazi access road, and R1.1 million for Kwathathani Mncadi access road.

A Ward 4 community co-op was launched at the event and an initiative has been formed to help poor children.
