THE Department of Public Works has issued a warning about recruitment scams targeting young, enemployed people using various channels including social media.

The department said scammers targeted unemployed youth with at least a Grade 11 qualification, promising them government opportunities in the form of learner-ships and internships.

According to the department, there are no internships or learner-ships currently being advertised the department.

The department had previously advertised internships through their official website and Facebook page, however, the closing date for these was on March 23.

Members of the public are urged not submit applications without checking the validity of the vacancy advertised.
