Who pays for ‘safe abortion’ signboards?

2016-02-05 06:00

A FRIEND of mine from Maclear visited me in Matatiele over the weekend and left early in the afternoon.

Only late that evening did I get a call from him telling me he had just arrived home. After asking whether his late arrival was because of traffic or a road block, he explained what had really slowed him down.

He said he was almost out of Matatiele when he noticed something very interesting which made him take an extensive sight-seeing trip to every part of the town.

Pasted on every stop sign were stickers advertising “safe abortions”. They were everywhere - near places of worship, and worst of all, near schools.

The conversation set me on my own expedition through the town and I saw what my friend had found earlier, which had completely escaped my notice before.

In light of this I’m compelled to ask the question - who pays for these signboards? Is is the municipality, traffic department or the people conducting these safe abortions?

If, by any chance, it is the former two, how come no action has so far been taken against the “specialist surgeon” whose contact details are clearly shown on the advert?
