NOT all young girls in Kokstad get tested for virginity, however, those who do are sometimes rewarded.

On Saturday more that 20 young girls were welcomed by elders of the Dlamini family at a traditional ceremony in Kokstad.
Family spokesperson Dumisani Dlamini said during school holidays the girls go camping with elderly mothers of the family.

“At the camps the girls are taught not to have sex before marriage. The purpose of camping is to fight teenage pregnancy and the spread of HIV and Aids.”

Dlamini said the culture doesn’t support the distribution of condoms to young girls.

Certificates and money were also given to young girls at the camp. - Supplied.
