TWO young models will go to the U.S. in July 2018 after doing well at the International Arts Talent Showcase in Johannesburg last week.
Nqobile Mzelemu (8) and Tshepiso Simoyi (9) from Gamalakhe are constantly booked to “strut their stuff’ at functions and have become household names on the local modelling scene.
Their careers began at the Miss Fabulous pageant that was founded by model and CEO of Destiny Models, Nobuhle Nyuswa.
Nyuswa, who began modelling at age seven, said the two are naturals.
“I first spotted them when they entered Miss Fabulous in April and it was obvious they were talented models. Their parents then asked me to continue coaching them.”
Through Nyuswa’s coaching they won the Mzansi Arts talent show in Durban in June that qualified them for the International Arts Talent Showcase in Johannesburg last week.
Nqobile and Tshepiso now stand a chance of representing South Africa at the Applause Rising Talent Showcase in Orlando, Florida, U.S. next year and are appealing to the public to help them realise their dream.
“The trip will cost R70 000 for each child and they need to raise R7 000 by the end of October for the deposit,” said Nyuswa.
“The amazing thing about modelling is that it grooms and teaches you the basic values of being a woman. So from young you are taught how to take care of yourself and which behaviour to refrain from because dangerous social habits, like excessive drinking, smoking and unhealthy eating habits, are unsustainable in modelling.”
