AS the country commemorated Freedom Day last Friday, young people from Matatiele also joined the masses by having an event at the Nokhwezi Community Hall in

The event was held to educate the youth about Freedom Day and a Kalushi movie was screened. Alfred Nzo African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) district secretary, Abongile Ganya, said that there is no freedom that can be celebrated by young people.

“Many young people are not working and they face poverty. Young people are not free,” said Ganya who was a guest speaker at the event.

Ganya encouraged young people to become active voices in their societies. Harry Gwala ANCYL district secretary, Qiniso Ntozakhe encouraged young people to contribute in the growth of the country’s economy. Young people from Maluti, Matatiele and surrounding areas said that the event was educational. Matatiele ANCYL sub-regional secretary, Nontobeko Maganda, from
Matatiele said that young people from Matatiele and Kokstad need to strengthen unity because their towns are very close. Maganda said that it was the first time to host an event with the attendance of Ntozakhe from
Harry Gwala adding that Ntozakhe was invited for young people to understand each other.
