Youth given learning opportunity

2017-06-30 06:00

THE Harry Gwala District Municipality Mayor, Mluleki Ndobe said youths from four local municipalities are to be capacitated with skills to address unemployment and poverty.

In a statement released by the municipality, Ndobe said the municipality is recognising young people as mandated by President Jacob Zuma to respond and implement youth programmes.

Services Seta and Harry Gwala formed an integrated learning programme to give young people an opportunity to get practical experience in public management, human resources management, financial management, administration and marketing in the municipality and are given a travel and lunch stipend by the municipality.

On April 3, 25 young people started the programme - their contract ends on October 3, 2018.

Khanyisile Mtolo is studying public management and is doing practical work in Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality.
“I am grateful to Harry Gwala Municipality for affording me this opportunity to be part of the programme. It will open doors for me.” - Supplied.
