THE newly appointed Harry Gwala District youth manager, Qiniso Ntozakhe, says he wants to develop young people and create more business opportunities for young people.

Ntozakhe was appointed to the post on Wednesday and is expected to start on March 1.

“I welcome this opportunity and I won’t disappoint young people. My aim is to launch the Harry Gwala District Youth Council so that young people can debate and address their challenges,” said Ntozakhe.

He said many young people in the district are unemployed because of a lack of skills and qualifications.

“Many young people have no matric. As a result, it is not easy for them to get employed. Some do have matric but did not go to tertiary institutions because they couldn’t afford it. My duty is to make sure that they get help to start businesses and get skills to qualify for the job market,” said Ntozakhe.

The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in the Harry Gwala District congratulated Ntozakhe and wished him well. ANCYL spokesperson Ntando Maduna called for local municipalities to appoint young people as youth managers instead of older people. “Ntozakhe has demonstrated his abilities to lead the change, particularly in the development of young people. We wish him all the best in the journey and we want him to make all young people proud,” said Maduna.
