YOUNG people from the Underberg area attended a tour operator and tourism guide co-operative administration workshop at the Underberg Railway Station recently.
Senior tourism officer from Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality, Andile Zwezwe, said the purpose of the workshop was to educate young people on how to form tourism co-ops.
He said the Department of Economic Development is in support of assisting young people.

“Young people can be funded once they establish co-ops. We want to teach them how to draw up business plans and register their co-ops in order to get government funding,” said Zwezwe.

Training will run for three weeks.
He added that the municipality is targeting young people from previously disadvantage areas, women and people living with disabilities.

The municipality would like to mentor young people who have shown an interest in tourism.
The workshop was supported by Harry Gwala District Municipality and the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs. ? Supplied.
