IN an event where a “baby mama” is involved there’s always the possibility of a fight between the “baby daddy”, the current girlfriend and the “baby mama,” said award-winning comedian Sfiso Nene.

Seeing how people related to the issue Nene decided that people would laugh about this situation instead of being serious and thus his one-man show, Baby Mama Drama, came about which Nene will performing in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday.

“The baby mama and baby daddy drama has been taken too seriously. It is time to laugh about it since most people relate to it. Around this issue there have been names such as ‘monsters’ [bandied about].

“It is an issue that is surrounded by drama and involves whoever has a baby mama or baby daddy in the relationship. All in all it is a story about single parents who are caught in a drama.

“As a comedian I did my observation and was able to pick up some tips. I played around with my thoughts and I came up with jokes that will make everyone involved to laugh at the matter instead of being dramatic. Most of us have people in our family who are caught up in the baby drama. It could be a sister, cousin or brother. The only way to look at a serious matter is to treat it in a light manner,” said

Nene was the winner of the 2009 SABC1 reality show, So You Think You’re Funny.

He said he won’t be the only one in the spotlight as local comedians will share the stage with him.

“This will be part of giving local talent a platform.

“The other thing is I love Pietermaritzburg people - they have supported and received me well in my previous shows. I appeal for their support and invite them to come in their numbers on Saturday,” he said
