AMAZULU will look to their KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League feeder team Durban Warriors to replenish their squad with young talent for next season.

The relegated Usuthu must now conform to National First Division rules that state they must start each game in the 2015/16 season with five players aged 23 or younger.

That presents a challenge to their squad in their current form, but coach Steve Barker said they will look to the feeder side to see what talent is there.

“We do not have many under 23 players and so this will give the Durban Warriors’ players a chance to prove themselves,” Barker told his club website. We are looking at signing one or two players from there and also looking at other experienced players we can get.”

Barker said that there has been little chance for a break from the game as he remains busy sorting out his squad for next season.

“We have started our preparations although it is not physical training, but we have been trying to ensure that all the paper work is in place and we get all the right players we need to get us back to the PSL with a straight promotion.

“The players have contracts with the club and so they will not just leave.

“We are still looking at negotiating with some of them but things are looking good.”

AmaZulu finished bottom of the Absa Premiership in the 2014/15 season despite an upturn in fortunes in the closing months of the campaign. Warriors are 14th out of 17 sides in the KwaZulu-Natal ABC Motsepe League this season. — Mzansi Football
