LIVE your dream and fight for what you believe in says 25-year-old Caluza singer, Londiwe Mkhize.

The Afro-soul singer has appeared in city clubs Basement and Casanova, and is working on songs for her latest album to be released next year.

Women should not look down upon themselves, instead they must fight for recognition and exposure she says.

“I consider myself the best singer in South Africa. One would ask why I give myself such credit and my answer to that would be ‘I know that I am the best. I have a dream and I know that if I keep pushing nothing will stop me’. I don’t remember not singing. I started when I was young - at school, church and in the school choir.

“From then I have never stopped and believe my passion will push me to reach my destiny. I have finished my song Ngek’ngivume (I won’t say yes). It has been ‘cooked’ and is ready,” said Mkhize.

Asked what inspired the song she said: “I came up with this song from an experience in my life.

“My music is the Busi Mhlongo and Thandiswa Mazwai type of music. That is how I describe my songs and music. I grew up looking up to Brenda Fassie, Beyoncé. and [the late] Michael Jackson. I love their energy. It’s clear they love what they do. In the near future I see myself reaching that level.”

Mkhize has shared the stage with Mobi Dickson, Kid X and Kaylow. If you want to book her for a performance, phone Sakhile Gina on 073 175 5898
