SEVENTEEN children from SOS Children’s Village and SOS Community Outreach Programme were recently treated to a special outing at uShaka Marine World n hosted by the Varsity College Pietermaritzburg branch.

Varsity College Pietermaritzburg’s student relations manager Sonya Nursoo said in a statement: “The event was organised to afford children an experience they might not otherwise have enjoyed.

“It afforded our students the privilege of sharing this experience through the eyes of a child, less jaded and still open to being inspired.”

Student volunteers and staff accompanied the children on a tour of the aquarium, with the highlight being the dolphin show. The day ended with lunch at KFC. The children learnt something about marine life and the importance of nurturing the environment. - Supplied
