MTHETHOMUSHA, Decca Road and Allandale Primary won at the Albany Collect-A-Bag campaign, the aim of which is Albany Pietermaritzburg Bakery’s answer to restore the environment and rid the Earth of pollution.

The campaign encourages communities to collect plastic bags from Albany Superior loaves in an effort to decrease the level of pollution and dumping.

Albany Obren Motswane from Sabio Communications said Albany PMB challenged schools to collect Albany Superior plastic bags and stand the chance of winning prize money for the school and pupils.

“Albany is visiting schools in KZN which participated in the Collect-A-Bag campaign.

“The campaign was run with 66 schools and so far 41 schools have been paid out to remunerate them for the work they put into collecting Albany bags.

“Every school received 10c a bag. The winning classes at the school for most Albany bags collected received Tinkies and R150,” said Motswane.

Zaheera Aboo from Albany congratulated the participating schools.

Mthethomusha won R588.10, Deccan Road won R541.60 and Allandale Primary won R402
