A COMPUTER centre, with 20 new computers, will soon open for classes in the Willowfontain area.

Classes will be available for all Willowfontain residents, said ward councillor Sibusiso Mkhize.

The centre was officially opened by minister for communications Faith Muthambi last month.

Mkhize said two Willowfontain residents were offered a short computer course.

“The two will teach those interested in computers. What is exciting about this is that this has opened up opportunities for the youth in the area. They will now be able to register for a computer course on their doorstep. We are working with Vodacom to make sure that lessons and certificates awarded to students are officially recognised. The aim is also to ensure that students are legally recognised and get hired. We are fortunate that our centre has free Wi-Fi. I encourage everyone to register for computer classes,” said Mkhize.

In another development, a bridge that was under construction, to be used by Willowfontain and Imbali Unit BB residents, is also now complete.

“This will help the community,” said Ward 17 councillor Philisiwe Sithole.

“We had pupils from Imbali Unit BB who encountered problems when travelling to schools in Willowfontain. Children and residents had to go the long way round, but that is now over. We are happy about the bridge and hope that residents are happy too.”
