Gifted horticulturist ‘greens’ PMB

2015-09-03 06:00

BATHABILE Ndlovu says the municipality does not replace trees in the city, the majority of which are exotic.

I concur. However, the city centre has many trees, including jacarandas, which are not only exotic, but not pruned. Although we previously had storms in which a few of these were blown over, the majority of those trees are not pruned. Why not? A week ago, as I drove home, I saw a team in Eastwood, pruning trees along the road. When I inquired, they said their manager is Mbulaheni Tshivhase, the popular horticulturist.

On Tuesday I passed the same team doing the same job on new Greytown road. Does the municipality not have a plan to replace trees in the CBD?

In Copesville you will see recently planted trees along the road, again by Tshivhase.

Maybe this man should manage the parks department since he excels in what he does and shows passion.

Those who don’t know what to do should ask for assistance from him instead of painting the City of Choice with gloom.

Let’s use this intelligent young man and ensure that our city is not only beautiful, but green too.
