FOUNDED in 2005, Khayelihle Funeral Services has gone from strength to strength, resulting in the establishment of nine branches in KZN.

The funeral home, whose slogan is “It’s a friend that walks in when everybody walks out of your life”, prides itself on being more than just a business, rather it is a place that restores hope among clients and bereaved families.

The funeral parlour is also part of the community with community involvement projects such as sponsoring needy students, feeding eight needy families every month and sponsoring events and development projects.

Established by former insurance broker Muzi Mkhize, who wanted to bring change into the industry, he says it hasn’t been plain sailing having to tap into a market where there are already many established funeral parlours.

Through hard work and dedication from his staff, the home now boasts of 52 employees, including temporary staff and 67 cars.

While the business will celebrate 10 years’ existence in December, marketing manager Thandiwe Zamisa said there is still a lot of work to be done to ensure they continue serving the interests of the people.

“Our aim is to take the brand to every corner of the country. For us it’s not only about providing burial services, we also want to make an impact by reviving and renewing hope among clients.

“It’s about creating and maintaining a brand we value. It is about our passion for life and people and providing the best service to our clientele. We don’t give back because we have much, we give back because we value the people and want to be their beacon of hope.

” For the first time this year, the company introduced service of excellence awards for staff who received cash prizes.

“We wouldn’t be where we are today if it weren’t for the good staff morale. Through the awards we also encourage our employees to go out and make a difference,” said Mkhize.

Marking the 10 years, Khayelihle will be giving away cars to some of its clients during a 10-year celebration at Harry Gwala in December
