THE Msunduzi Hospice Association’s fund- raisers will host a jazz festival on 27 September, at 7pm at the Golden Horse Casino.

Artists to perform include jazz saxaphone player Karén Devroop. Accompanying him will be jazz guitarist Mageshen Naidoo, who holds a doctorate of music from University of Southern California.

Devroop was born and raised in South Africa and is a multi-instrumentalist (saxophone and piano).

“This year’s event is on a Saturday evening, previously it was held on a Friday evening, now making it easier for jazz lovers to attend and it is a relaxing way to spend quality time with friends and family,” said Msunduzi Hospice f und-raiser, Rashida Vagh.

Devroop has performed extensively in the United States, Europe, Asia and South Africa and had established himself as a world-class performer. He has just returned from near sold-out performances at the 2013 Samui Latin and Jazz Festival in Thailand and the 2013 Amersfoort Jazz Festival in the Netherlands where he was featured alongside legendary jazz musician Lonnie Liston Smith.

In addition to performances with his own group, he is part of the International Saxophone Summit with Alexander Beets (Netherlands) and Koh “Mr Saxman” from Thailand.

Tickets for the event are R270 and dress code is smart-casual. For more information, phone Vagha on 033 344 1560
