Msunduzi to get additional speed humps

2015-10-08 06:00

ABOUT 20 speed humps will be constructed in areas which are considered high accident locations.

According to a report circulated at the recent Msunduzi Municipality’s Executive Committee (Exco), these areas are notorious for drag racing and speeding vehicles.

The speed humps are scheduled to be constructed during the 2015/2016 financial year.

The first priority will be school zones and public amenities.

The second priority will be high accident locations and thirdly will be residential areas.

A budget of R250 000 will finance the construction of these traffic calming measures.

The municipality hopes that by the 2015/2016 financial year onwards, all traffic calming requests will be submitted to the Department of Transport as opposed to the current procedure whereby traffic calming measures are gathered from ward councillors.

The traffic calming measures will be constructed at Pine Street, by Gateway and Elangeni schools, Ceder Road next to Woodlands Clinic, Marion High in Prince Alfred Street, 264 Khan Road, Silver Road, Silver Road by the intersection of Chasevalley and Silverdale Crescent, along Turnbull Road, Mbabazanbe Road, Ekuthuleni Drive in Imbali Unit 13 and Waterfall Road in Esigodini
