A 25-YEAR-OLD Pietermaritzburg woman celebrated Women’s Day with her Best Media Personality award in hand.

Lungi Dube was crowned at the Ingoma Awards in Pretoria on Saturday.

Dube is not just a pretty face, she is a jack of all trades - she manages artists, is media personality and a business analyst.

Spe said she was nominated in two categories in April.

“I was nominated for the best gospel promoter and the best media personality and in these the two categories the public had to vote for me.

“I am happy with the support they gave me and I can proudly say it’s because of them I won. Apart from working hard and giving my work all the attention, I thank people for voting for me. It was the best gift a woman can get in Women’s Month. I feel blessed and loved. I am a proud young woman who wishes to see other women working like slaves in order to live like queens,” said Dube.

She said she works hard because in order to live like a queen and own a castle, one has to excel.

“I believe I deserve the award. I have been in the media industry for three years, but I work like a person who has been there for decades.

“I’m on fast-forward mode and I do tha t intentionally. I work to leave a legacy. I want young women to look at me and say ‘God, I want to be like her’. I am a God-fearing woman and I believe that keeps me going.

“To all the women out there, let us have no fear. We don’t have to wait for a man to make things happen.

“Let us support each other so that we bring up a generation that will be exemplary to other generations,” she said.

Dube said she wishes that big publications and radio stations work with young and upcoming artists.

“It should be not about who knows who, it must be about growing each and bettering ourselves.”
