SINETHEMBA Mkhize (16), a Pietermaritzburg “songbird” is appealing for sponsorship for her trip to Germany in June.

Sinethemba, a pupil at Carter High, is one of the KZN Youth Choir members who is to compete on an international level there.

The self-confessed songbird started her journey to Germany by entering the first phase of auditions that took place last year.

She was successful in the first phase and went into the second phase where she was chosen to be one of the choir.

Apart from being a music fanatic and a second alto singer Sinethemba said that going to Germany will be opening many doors for her in terms of learning more about music as a whole.

“I have managed to collect part of the R28 000 that is required for the two-week trip to Germany.”

The sponsorship Sinethemba is appealing for will cover accommodation, clothes and necessities the trip requires.

“Being part of the choir has been a dream come true and it is something I have been wishing for ever since I realised that I am passionate about music.

“My hands are open for any kind of sponsorship I can get. It could be money, clothes or any donation that people are able to give me. I am passionate about music and am doing what I love. Music is my second choice and I’m planning to make it a career and an investment,” said Sinethemba.

She is also part of the dance routine for the traditional song they will perform in German.

“The KZN Youth Choir is leading in the province and we are taking over the country. We also feel we are not given as much recognition as we should - going to Germany will be an indication that we are the best,” she said.

Those who wish to sponsor Sinethemba can phone her on 079 780 2859
