PIETERMARITZBURG DJs Deep ExcavationSA are hoping that fans in the city will help them win the Switch on The Night DJ search competition, hosted by Soul Candi Records and Olmeca Tequila.

“We have been short listed to compete with other three KwaZulu-Natal deejays in the deep-house genre and we are the only ones from Pietermaritzburg,” said Zamani Senzo Zwane, better known at SkillTon.

He and his DJ partner, Nathi Mamabolo aka Kinati, formed Deep Excavation three years ago.

Since then, they have performed with the likes of Cuebur, Twitty, Kotini, Happy Girl and AndyBoi, and have played at the Cotton Pub, Sprytz Premium Lounge, 033 Lifestyle and Coco Lagoon in Pietermaritzburg.

“The genre we play is soulful and deep tech, which suits any era and accommodates everyone,” said Zwane, who has also been featured on the DStv 1KZN DJ mix.

“If we do win, we will get to do the opening set on the Spring Fiesta main stage at the Wild Waters Complex in Boksburg. We would love it if people could support us. To do so, they can do a search on Facebook or Twitter using Spring Fiesta. The competition closes today.”
