HAVING started playing soccer at six, Brylon Petersen has a bright future ahead as he is currently the Wits University goalkeeper.

Born in Eastwood 19 years ago, Petersen attended Scottsville Primary School and completed his matric at Maritzburg Boys’ College where he played for the first team throughout his high school career.

As a junior pupil he started his career as a defender and later moved into goal-keeping. He then joined Maritzburg United Football Academy which was later discontinued. Petersen also obtained KZN colours for soccer and represented the U19 team on a national tour

He was also in the USSA U23 team for two consecutive years and was selected for the Castle Lager Superstars X1, but did not make the final 23-man squad.

He has been in trials at PSL clubs like Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs where he trained Itumeleng Khune and Brilliant Khuzwayo, however, due to academic reasons he had to pull out of the trials. Petersen is in his second year at Wits University where he is studying mechanical engineering.

Other than soccer he is an aspiring artist having won an art award in his 2014 for his artwork displayed at Tatham Art Gallery.
