Youth encouraged to enter youth awards

2015-05-07 06:00

UMngeni youth not older than 35 are invited to enter the Izwi Youth Awards in June at the Howick West Hall.

Those active in community work in their areas that fall under the uMngeni District Municipality are invited to complete entry forms.

The awards are aimed at honouring and acknowledging youngsters who strive to see their communities being developed, said Izwi Youth Movement chairperson (IYM) Thulani Mthalane.

Izwi Youth Movement is hosting the awards.

“What we are trying to do is to inject healthy competition in the youth and we challenge them think out of the box. We want the next generation to have role models in their communities. We have chosen to be selfish and invite only the youth from uMngeni Municipality since this is our first event. If this is successful then other district municipalities will be invited next year,” Mthalane said.

Entry forms can be collected at libraries in Howick or can be downloaded from the Izwi Youth Movement website - www.Izwi lomzan si
