Art exhibition showcasing fresh talent

2015-07-01 06:05

AN art exhibition, offering young and established artists a chance to display their craftsmanship, will be held on 11 July at the Lejweleputswa Arts Centre in Thabong, Welkom.

Focusing on raising funds for further development of artists, it also aims to develop artists with fresh ideas whilst still holding true to skilled craftsmanship.

This one-day exhibition provides a platform for different artists involved in visuals, comedy, drama, music and crafts.

It is an initiative organised by the community-based arts development organisation, Ziyaduma Promotions, in partnership with Vandra’s African Art Gallery.

“It is a good opportunity for both established and young upcoming artists to display their works for public viewing. The aim is also to identify and promote local artists. This is a pilot project which we plan on hosting monthly as part of a flea market,” said Saduma Miya, project coordinator.

Admission is R20 for adults and R10 for children. Cultural groups interested to participate are invited to register at R5. Admission for visual artists and crafters is R50. The closing date for registration is 10 July.
