AS part of its social responsibility programme, the St Mary’s Women’s Missionary Society in Galeshewe reached out to the elderly of the Galeshewe Association for the Care of the Aged and Disabled (Gaasca) by donating handmade blankets.

These included patchwork-blankets with patterns the women had designed themselves, throws and normal blankets.

According to the women, the idea for this was born from a conviction that they should do more than just offer prayer services to the elderly.

They revealed that they had collected left-over pieces of fabric, provided by donors, to do the patchwork for the elderly.

“We were actually supposed to deliver the blankets on Women’s Day, but could not due to our many commitments. That is also why only five of us managed to come this time,” said Martha Motlhaba, one of the members.

“The other members are preparing for the church conference.”
