THE Matjhabeng Publicity Association’s Clash of the Choirs Competition auditions are in full swing. The event is for school and adult choral choirs.

The second leg of auditions for choirs in Hennenman and Ventersburg will be held on 30 and 31 May in the Hennenman Community Hall.

The third leg of auditions for choirs in Welkom and Virginia will be held at the Ernest Oppenheimer Theatre in Welkom on 13 and 14 June. Auditions are set to start at 10:00. The first leg of auditions for Allanridge and Odendaalsrus was held on the weekend of 16 and 17 May in Odendaals-rus.

The auditions pave the way for the final of the choral musical competition in August. The competition makes provision for two categories, adult and school choirs with an ultimate winner in both categories. The choral competition is open to all cultures, thereby ensuring participation for all those interested.

Entry fee is R300 per choir and must be paid on the day of auditions. Choirs that fail to register or pay will not be allowed to enter the competition. Entry forms including song requirements and competition rules are available at the association’s offices or at the Ernest Oppenheimer Theatre.

Interested choirs must fill in the entry form and email it to the Matjhabeng Publicity Association at
