MEN who attended a Father’s Day function in Bothaville were encouraged to continue restoring fatherhood in families taking it beyond providing bread and butter. Men were encouraged to uphold the principles of fatherhood and become pillars in the broader society. The challenge was made by Col. Sibongile Ndaba, commander of the Bothaville Police Station, at a Father’s Day function organised by the station recently. The event was organised to acknowledge and pay homage to fathers for the role they play.

“We want you to know that you are loved and we wish you to continue to display the acts of a father, leading by example and protecting your families as well as the community at large. You should be fathers that recognise a need, sorrow and embrace with love and give all you have,” said Ndaba. She further encouraged fathers to take a leaf from the story in the Bible of a prodigal son whose father forgave him and warmly welcomed him home.

“Families, especially children, need that content as a reminder that you love them. Fathers should have compassion and be prepared to forgive others,” said Ndaba
