Dagga lands two in court

(52) and Johan du Preez (30) from Douglas briefly appeared in the Douglas Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (26/08) on charges relating to drugs.

The case follows their arrest on Tuesday, (25/08), after they were found to be dealing in drugs and in possession of dagga. Kakora was released on R1 500 bail and Du Preez was released without bail.

They are expected to appear in court again on 21 September.

According to police spokesperson Col. Priscilla Naidu, two police officers

X Det.Const. Piet Langeveldt and Det.Const.Valerie Mooketsi X while on investigative duties, saw Du Preez riding his motorbike in the Bongani township.

“The detective officers became suspicious and waited for the motorbike to exit the township. The rider was stopped and while searching him, police found four sticks of dagga,” said Naidu.

On further investigation, the police searched a house in the township and found dagga weighing close to three and a half kilograms with an estimated street value of R7 000, in bags in the bedroom. Subsequently Kakora was arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in dagga
