THE Northern Cape and North West Legal Service Department held a joint performance awards ceremony on 26 May in Bloemhof.

The purpose of the ceremony was to recognise excellent performance rendered by the departments in both provinces during the last financial year.

According to Maj. Dimakatso Mooi, all members were awarded with certificates of appreciation for their hard work and about 30 trophies were awarded in different categories during the ceremony.

Among the recipients were provincial commissioners from both provinces, Lt. Gen. Janet Basson and Lt. Gen. Menzi Mbombo, who both received awards for being the best supporting provincial commissioner.

Chaplain Alexander Esau from the North-West urged the members not to stop where they were but to allow the awards they received to serve as encouragement to do more.

“Purpose is power, without it you do not achieve, so live a purpose-driven life, do not do your work like it is by accident you are there,” he said.

The head of the Northern Cape Legal Service, Maj. Gen. Linda Mbana, also thanked members of both provinces for working hard, challenging themselves and having a healthy competition between the two provinces.

“You bring a positive attitude to work and because of that, projects become easier to execute and problems easier to solve,” she said.

She further said that excellence was not a skill, but an attitude and if we could change attitudes, we could all excel.

The award ceremony was the first of its kind in the Legal Service Unit
