IN 2015 SuperSport’s Let’s Play celebrates ten years of activating the children of South Africa.

Rinske-mari du Plooy (12) has been chosen as October’s Express Northern Cape’s SuperSport Let’s Play Sports Star of the Month for her brilliant performance in rhythmic gymnastics high performance.

She is a pre-junior Olympic gymnast who has been in the high-performance programme for over five years.

Rinske-mari has competed at various competitions and won medals. She has also competed as a South African gymnast at the Queen Margarita International Competition that was held in Varna, Bulgaria, in August.

Rinske-mari was selected as one of the top high-performance gymnasts to attend a National HP Camp, which took place in Johannesburg and was facilitated by Great Britain’s international coach, Nadia Alexandrova, and one of South Africa’s top coaches.

She also did her high-performance testing which is done annually with all South Africa’s high-performance gymnasts and did exceptionally well; she was ranked second in her pre-junior Olympic section.

Rinske-mari qualified to represent the Northern Cape at the 2015 South African Gym Games that was held in Johannesburg.

She won the silver medal overall for the pre-junior section, bronze for hoop, silver for rope and clubs, and the gold medal for ball. She also received the trophy for the high-performance circuit gymnast of the year. She has been selected to represent South Africa at the Zone 6 International Competition taking place in December.

The overall Let’s Play Sports Star of the Year winner for Express Northern Cape will be announced at a private function on 27 November in Kimberley.
