Learners invited to enter

THE Free State Department of Education appeals to learners from gr. 8 to gr. 11 and teachers to participate in the iNkosi Albert Luthuli Oral History competition. The competition aims to promote the Freedom Charter ideals which the late Luthuli fought for.

Inaugurated in 2005, the competition has been named after Luthuli, former pre-sident of the ANC, Nobel Prize laureate and educationist.

The competition will afford the participants a chance to review the progress South Africa has made as a nation in building a better and more united nation as well as strengthening democracy. This year learners are given topics centred on the commemoration of the Freedom Charter which marks 60 years since its drafting and adoption by anti-apartheid activists.

The competition closes on 29 April. Contact Moses Tsatsinyane, assistant director for values in education on 051-404-8678 or 073-062-6527 or tsatsinm@edu.fs.gov.za
