Legend wants to coach Bafana

2015-10-14 06:00

THE Bafana Bafana legend Benni McCarthy says he harbours ambitions of coaching the national team.

“Because if you are successful with your national team, you have an opportunity to take your national team to the World Cup finals and there is nothing bigger than that.

“As a club player, it’s the Champions League, but on a world stage, it’s the World Cup, and that’s my dream, I’m on the right path to make that dream come true.”

McCarthy, Bafana’s record scorer with 32 goals, won the European Champions League with FC Porto in 2004, and he also featured for Ajax Amsterdam, Celta Vigo, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United. McCarthy retired from playing two years ago.
