TEBOGO SEHERI, a candidate attorney who is visually impaired, was invited to the matric farewell of his alma mater, the Tetlano High School, where he delivered a motivational speech.

Feeling honoured for being invited and close to tears, Seheri shared with the audience how great God was to have turned his life around.

“We had more or less 13 teachers and only two grades X gr. 8 and gr. 9 X and our aim was to complete gr. 12 and after that fly into the future.

“What are your aims and objectives in life? You should have made your choices back then and stayed focused on your dream for your future, or you will fall through the cracks after gr. 12.

“Avoid belonging to a certain group and rather be like an eagle which always flies alone.

“And if you are in a group, let it be seen that you are independent.

“Structure your daily activities according to preference. Remember: In life you have five p’s: Proper, Preparation, Prevents, Poor, Performance.

“It is not always that things will go your way, but you should not give up because it might be that you are giving in just at the moment when things are falling into place.

“Sometimes you will see other learners with a lot of study material, but don’t be intimidated, but prepare to the best of your ability and stay focused.

“I am referring to capability because some may think that they will not be able to make it in the coming exams. By doing this you undermine that energised talent and skill which God gave each one on earth, and this will also bring a great disappointment to your teachers as they are also rating themselves against your performance.

“No man should come and tell you that you will not make it in your coming exams.

“Play this like me and others who managed to reach their targets in life, which was ‘beyond the skies.’

“Play skillfully and please, blame no one for your failure, but turn it into an opportunity.

“I am visually impaired, but I don’t let my disability control my life because I have a dream and I want to make it come true.

“My background has driven me to where I am today, but I have not stopped dreaming because I want to leave a legacy behind.

“No one can or will do it for me. This you must know, lest you follow the wrong crowd:

“A dream without a vision is a nightmare.

“Matthew 25: 14-30 is about a king who gave his servants talents. One got five, the next one got two and the last got one.

“The first multiplied his five, the second multiplied his two and the third hid his talent. The first two were in good standing with the king and the last one’s talent was taken from him and it was given to the first two.

“The moral of the story is that if you fail to use what is given to you it will be taken away from you.

“God did not give life to failures, but to capable leaders.

“No matter whether you are disabled or not, don’t let people discourage you.”
