National council meets in Free State

THE National Council of Provinces (NCOP)’s Free State delegation are spending a full week in the province as part of their oversight function to assess the state of delivery. Their programme started in Bloemfontein on Monday (20/07) and it will end on Friday (24/07). The programme’s theme is Advancing the developmental agenda of municipalities for a better life for our people. The delegation, which is led by the provincial whip, Manana Tlake, began the programme through a meeting with the provincial executive on Tuesday (21/07).

The stakeholders expected to attend includes Premier Ace Magashule, the various MECs, MPLs and Salga representatives.

The week-long programme will also see the Kopanong Local Municipality, Xhariep District Municipality, Naledi Local Municipality and the Mangaung Metro making presentations to the NCOP delegation. Furthermore, there are scheduled oversight visits to a number of projects in the Xhariep District Municipality and Mangaung Metro.

A public meeting is scheduled for Thursday (23/07) at the Mangaung Outdoor Sports Centre during which the delegation will hear directly from the citizens on service delivery.

The week will end with a meeting with the provincial leadership on Friday (24/07)
