POLICE hunt tuck shop robbers

THE police in Thabong, Welkom, are searching for five men who robbed an Ethiopian businessman on 18 May after threatening him with knives.

The robbery took place in the newly-developed residence know as 2010, WO Malebo Khosana, the spokesperson of the Thabong police, says.

He says the five suspects, who are still on the run, overpowered the victim when he was due to close the tuck shop at about 19:00.

Khosana says the robbers took an undisclosed amount of cash, stock including a variety of cigarette brands and tobacco cartons, washing powder, soap, vaseline as well as MTN and Vodacom airtime vouchers.

According to him, the suspects fled the scene in a silver Toyota Avanza.

Anyone with information helpful in the arrest of the suspects can call the investigating officer, WO Bertus Olivier, on 082-885-5271.
