Search on for next of kin and suspects

2015-09-02 06:00

THE Welkom police request the public’s assistance in identifying the family or relatives of the late Neo Majara and his killer(s).

Capt. Stephen Thakeng, Welkom police spokesperson, says they have thus far been unsuccessful in tracing Majara’s family.

He says investigation, that includes the use of finger-print records, has led the police to believe the deceased is from Ladybrand.

Thakeng said they have been unsuccessful in their search for the deceased’s family in Ladybrand. He says according to records, family of Majara resided at M 394 Thusanong Section in Manyatseng, Ladybrand.

Thakeng says the deceased body, which was in a decomposed state, was discovered on 7 January in an open veld near the Oppenheimer Golf Course in Welkom. The deceased had a gunshot wound to the head.

Thakeng says a cartridge was found at the crime scene.

The police are now searching for suspects.

The victim was wearing a blue T-shirt, blue trousers and white gumboots.

The body is still at the Welkom Government Mortuary.

Anyone with information leading to the arrests of the suspects and the family’s whereabouts can call the investigating officer Const. Pelo Mmolawa of the Welkom Cluster Murder Task Team on 076-699-7858 or 057-391-6297 during office hours
